If I Ruled the World – Violence Will Be Eliminated (Daily Prompt)

You have been given a superpower to change one law of nature. How would you use it?

When I first saw this prompt, I wanted to write. Post about how I do not want to change anything in world. The world is beautiful enough and I do not want to mess around with the harmony that is life. Yes, we do have nasty diseases and conditions, and yes, we have to face death sooner or later but I do not want to change that.

However, a deeper look into our society forced me to change my mind. We hear about people killing each other, wars being fought which costs the lives of mothers, fathers and children, school shootings, teacher being killed by a student, and recently, 257 girls were kidnapped in Nigeria.

This is what I want to change. If i am given the superpower to change one law of nature, I will eliminate violence and psycho-/sociopathy. I am not going to pretend that I know all of the biological and societal reasons of how one becomes violent, and how I may change it. Although if given the said superpower, I imagine that one snap of my fingers would do the job.

Just imagine a world inhabited by people who are incapable of violence. How safe would we feel? Our fears will not be eliminated completely but it will significantly be lessened. I know that eliminating psycho-/sociopathy and violence would not eliminate all the problems in this world, but it is undoubtedly a great start.

  1. I like the way you are thinking, yes to get rid of violence would be wonderful.

what about love? If people could only experience this, there would be no need for violence….? xx

    1. What if they could experience love? Isnt that a nice thought. Unfortunately, most of those who commit violence do not even know what true love is, because liberal society has blurred the lines between love and lust that is brought about by chemistry, commonality and anticipation. Love as portrayed in the media has taught them that it is an uncontrollable feeling that comes over you when you meet the right person. Its portrayed as sexually driven. This is totally false. Love is a choice that lives within ourselves and results from seeing goodness within a person. True love results from having active concern for the wants and needs of an individual, responding to those needs and the ability learn about and respect that person for who they are. Violent people do not understand love, therefore, they do not convey love, nor do they understand it when it is received. So many will try to chalk up the problem with violence in schools as a societal problem or a political problem, but the truth is that the answer lies within ourselves.

      1. Those are a lot of assumptions. But I don’t disagree with them all. Although, I would lean towards explaining it as a societal issue. The answer may lie within us but sometimes we need others to point it out. Support networks are invaluable!
