Today’s Daily PromptYou’re tasked with creating a brand new astrological sign for the people born around your birthday — based solely on yourself. What would your new sign be, and how would you describe those who share it?

My belief about Zodiac signs is defined by the image below:

I suppose that I have defined and described myself by refusing to create a new zodiac sign.

Life is what you make it. Don’t let an unproven system define you and what your life will be. You alone are responsible for that! Never let anyone take that away from you!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Imagine (Cover Art)

Imagine

I stumbled upon this grafitti on my visit to London a few weekends ago. It depicts two people- one white, pressumably British, male and one woman who is wearing a burkha- holding hands. In light of what has happened and what is happening in the world, I think this is one of the most powerful pieces of art that I have ever seen.

John Lennon’s song Imagine came to my mind when I saw this.

Imagine:

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Weekly Photo Challenge: Adventure (life)

Life is an adventure in itself. It’s the greatest, most challenging adventure there is. Survival, of course is the main goal whether it is your personal survival, that of your genes, species or the world. For me, nothing captures this as much as a portrait of a child (which in this case is my cousin) blissfully playing.

To what extent would you influence children’s development, i.e. life adventure?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Summer Lovin’ at the Lake District

I have just spent the past few days at my current favourite place in the UK: The Lake DIstrict in Cumbria. I have fallen madly in love with the place. I still cannot believe a place as gorgeous as this lays in the heart of England.

I got to chill by the lake:

I spent a few hours staring at this:

The next morning, I went on a 3-mile hike to Orrest Head:

It was worth it. Just look at the view:

I had some time to reflect:

Once I got back down, I went back to the lakes and tried rowing:

I got tired very easily, so I had to put my feet up:

And took a selfie:

Before the night ended, I went on a cruise:

Saw some breath-taking views:

and saw the sunset:

Oh, I almost forgot… I spent the whole time with the most amazing person in the world…

my fiancee:

I CAN Stand Me!

Today’s Daily Post: What do you find more unbearable: watching a video of yourself, or listening to a recording of your voice? Why?

Being able to look at your reflection in the mirror, listen to the recording of your voice, look at a photograph of yourself and watch your own video confidently and without squirming are signs that your are happy with yourself- your whole self. Yes, we all have our flaws; none of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. But we should look back at them, accept and admit to them and learn from them because they are all part of who we are. Accept your whole self but make improvements to be an even better person.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrasts

I took this photo a few months ago somewhere in Manchester’s city centre. I love the way it highlights the contrast between technological progress and people’s actual needs. It is great to be able to have a hand-held device that allows us to communicate to people anywhere in the world, browse the internet and store a lot of information. However, we must not forget the simple, most basic things in life, such as face to face conversations. We have all seen a group of people out in public places who are more interested in their phones than the people who are with them.

Dear Progress…

Ice Cream Personality

Today’s Daily PromptA local ice cream parlor invites you to create a new wacky flavour. It needs to channel the very essence of your personality. What’s in it?

I went to Rome a few years ago and visited Della Palma (Gelato di Roma), a world-famous place to buy any ice cream flavour you can think of. Just look:

Della Palma didn’t disappoint. Their gelato tasted like heaven!

My trip to Rome had me convinced that every possible ice cream flavour have been thought of, which makes answering today’s prompt very tricky. I struggled to think of flavours that would embody my personality. I have been descibed as serious,  sweet yet awkward and healthy. I think I’d make a sweet potato flavoured ice cream. It’s healthy, serious (I think), sweet and very strange. I wonder what it will taste like. Has it been created yet?
